The Cybernetic Tea Shop by Meredith Katz
4.0/5
a short and sweet asexual sapphic romance between a human and a robot. this book took me barely a day to finish, which i feel hasn't happened in a long while. most of it takes place in seattle, where i lived as a kid!
the novella touches on themes of grief, identity, and purpose— the latter two i especially enjoyed in the context of the book, partly because they're things i think about a lot
the book summarizes some events to make up for its smaller word count. i think this definitely could have been told as a longer story, and i definitely would enjoy reading it as a longer story. i don't read slow burns much, but i think this could definitely be fun for me
there's not much world building outside of what's relevant to the story, which is alright, but i think it would've been nice to get some more details about how the world has changed
overall, i really enjoyed reading this book. i'd say it's worth giving a read if you like sapphic romance and have a day or two
